| Description | Guru Nanak Sahib dedicated a major part of his life in preaching Almighty Akal-Purakh’s message amongst human beings by undertaking pious travels visiting many places of globe. His unparalleled philosophy of life ushered a new era, and shed rays of enlightenment on the prevailing darkness. People had got stuck in ego and misery. Initiation of struggle in life by Guru Ji emerged as the path to righteousness among the masses. People of all faith and strata were brought together on a common platform to follow the unique and the easiest most way to reach the Almighty. First Sikh historian, Bhai Gurdas Ji1 says about the beginning of these famous journeys’, “Baba Bekh Banaiya Udasi Ki Reet Chalai” thus initiation of pious travels were termed Udassi generally. Various Janam Sakhis (life sketch of Guru Nanak), authored by different scholars of that time, describe vividly of these Udassis inspite of some contradictions of time and places2. But the substance seems to be the same. |
